| Frito-Lay began its Resource Conservation and Greenhouse Gas reduction program in 1999. From our 1999 baseline to 2005, our greenhouse gas reductions totaled nearly 19%, and we expect our total reductions to reach 22% by 2010.
Frito-Lay is a member of the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency’s Climate Leaders Program. Under this voluntary program – the largest public/corporate greenhouse gas reductions goal-setting program – Frito-Lay sets goals and tracks its reductions in greenhouse gas emissions across the United States. Through these efforts, Frito-Lay has voluntarily pledged to reduce its greenhouse gas emissions in the United States by 14 percent per pound of production from 2002 to 2010. Already, from 2002 to 2005, Frito-Lay reduced its emissions by 7.2 percent per pound of product.
